Lake Renovation: Day 35

Today was the end of week 7.  The painters got started and painted just about every room.  The gutter installers also stopped back to replace their angled downspouts with some offsets that I bought.  Unfortunately, they installed them way too high so while they look better, it's still not right.

Lake Renovation: Day 34

Almost without fail, any time I write that something is supposed to happen tomorrow, it doesn't happen.  Anyway, today was more drywall work and then the poured the shower base and fixed up half of the closet floor.  The contractor delivered some of the tile today for the kitchen and bathroom but we're still a little ways from needing that.

I take pictures of the front of the house every day and today I realized that it's actually pretty much done.  With the exception of the front door, the outside of the house is pretty much finished.  So that's exciting!

Lake Renovation: Day 33

The stone is done!  Almost...there's a small section at the front door that they can't do until the front door is replaced, but other than that, it's up and looks really nice.  The drywall is pretty close to done and the painting crew is supposed to start tomorrow with a coat of primer and one coat of paint.  I believe they'll then come back closer to the end of a second coat of paint.

Lake Renovation: Day 32

Today was another slow one.  The stone guys are getting close to being done.  The guy working on the drywall was here for a bit and sanded things, but it doesn't look done yet, so I'm guessing they're not starting to paint tomorrow like they were going to originally.

Lake Renovation: Day 30

Today was the end of week 6.  More drywall work and electrical inside and the stone guys made more progress outside.  The landscape crew was here again trying to deal with the flood in the yard but there probably isn't anything we can do until spring unfortunately.

Next week we'll be finishing the stone, finishing the drywall, painting and trim.  Hopefully things will start coming together pretty quickly now.  We should be 60% of the way there!

Lake Renovation: Day 28

Today the finished the driveway by adding the asphalt end which buts up to the road and by finishing all of the saw cuts.  It looks really good and should be very nice.  Because it's getting colder, they don't want any vehicles on it until the end of the month.  They're also concerned about getting the dumpster out in a month, so we'll see.

The electrician was here again working on the panel and mounting more recessed lights.  And the drywall is still a work in progress.

Lake Renovation: Day 27

Today the concrete crew was here and poured the last section of concrete.  They'll still have to come back to install the blacktop between the end of the driveway and the street and then it will be finished.  We have to keep all vehicles off of it for 10 days which would be Friday, Oct. 25th.  Then normal vehicles can drive on it, but no really heavy vehicles for at least 30 days, so November 15th.

The landscaping crew was here and got everything cleaned up and hydroseeded.  We should still be able to get some grass to grow before winter.  I was planning on doing the landscaping myself, but once I realize just how much dirt we needed, I realized there was no way.

The stone crew was here again and made more progress including starting on the chimney. They also poured the caps to the front pillers so we'll see how that turns out.  A gutter crew was here and installed gutters and gutter guards.  I'm not crazy about how they did the downspouts around the stone though.  The electrician was here and mounted the new meter box outside and the new panel inside, so we should be getting close to having some functioning electricity again.  Currently, there's only an outlet or two that still runs off of the old service.

The contractor and one of his guys was here.  They worked on painting the outside trim and taping the new drywall.
